For our nephew’s first birthday a Finding Nemo themed birthday. It was the same weekend as my dance recital so we weren’t in attendance. My cake was there to represent!
About this cake: It was a chocolate cake with raspberry filling covered with a thin top layer of chocolate buttercream. This was to give it a crumb coat that tasted good. On to the decorations. The writing, coral and sea leafs where all buttercream frosting. The blue is Pastry Pride with Wilton blue coloring and the sides are sprayed with Wilton color mist. I wanted the effect of deep under the ocean. The pink and white seashells are made of chocolate. Melted and placed in a seashell mold the tough part was marbleizing the chocolates. It was my first time doing it and definitely took a test run before selecting a few I was happy with. The island is made of crushed graham crackers and some butter, molded it in saran warp and tossed in the freezer to firm. In case you can’t see the little palm tree is a candle! All in all I’m happy with this cake I wish I had more time to work on it…

This design didn’t take much thought, something about daisies just stood out to me. I’m happy about how it turned out however I wish I could had more time to improve the daisies. Basic ultimate white cake filled with Breyers chocolate ice cream ( my mom’s fave). Covered on the outside with chocolate buttercream frosting, pastry pride, and royal icing flowers.

My cousins were visiting and after seeing my previous work they wanted to make and create. We were suppose have a pig cake and a panda cake, but the Wii was a bit distracting.
